During the last Style Series, I did a post on using celebrities for inspiration. It was such a big hit, that I’ve decided to revisit the idea and bring you celeb inspired outfits 2.0!
Find a celebrity (or a few) with a look that you love, and use their outfits to get ideas. Collect pictures of your favorite outfits of theirs (hello Pinterest!) and then study them. Ask yourself what makes the outfit appeal to you. Is it the colors that she (or he) mixes? The patterns? Maybe the cut of the clothing or the way the fabric drapes? If you can identify these elements, that can help you apply them to your own wardrobe without being discouraged that you don’t have the exact top or the exact accessory that she’s wearing.
Here are some examples of outfits I’ve recreated using pieces in my wardrobe!
Emma Stone/Gwen Stacy- I can’t quite verify if this is an Emma outfit or a Gwen outfit since she was on the set of Spider Man 2 when spotted, but either way it’s a great casual look that is very classic and cool. I love the way she mixes the preppy blouse and jacket with the cute slouchy hat, and the contrasting light pink shoes are just darling. Focusing on the layering and colors, I came up with this cute look!

Shailene Woodley- This rising star is quickly becoming a fashion icon (plus she holds a special place in our hearts since she played Felicity in the American Girl movie). Here she is able to make even a casual grey sweatshirt look fashionable, so I worked around that and added the colored straight-leg pants and a blue floral scarf to mimic her blouse, which coordinates with the shoes.

Lupita Nyong’o- Lupita is a stunning inspiration to so many young women, and her style is no less inspiring! She is known for wearing bright and bold colors, but here she pairs burgundy with light pink and the look is fabulous! Adding in some metallic accessories completes the feel of Lupita’s look, which is feminine but a little edgy.

Hailee Steinfeld- Having just purchased this lovely salmon colored coat, I couldn’t resist recreating this adorable look by Hailee. The way she mixes the beautiful colored coat with a beige dress and shoes and then a bright red bag is so simple yet very chic.
