Questions for Clarisse: Organizing

Question from Alice Sylvia: Do you store your clothing in any special way–like all blouses together, for instance? I know that when I shop at AG, I tend to keep all the AG things together by collection. I just got Isabelle’s coral sweater and black jacket, and you have me thinking I should loosen up and mix-and-match a little more, but my clothes aren’t organized in such a way as to make that easy! I need to set my closet free!
Question from Xyra: I like mixing and matching my outfits, but am starting to worry about getting all the pieces back in the correct box. Any thoughts on how to keep my AG outfits together?

Keeping an organized closet is very important in getting the most out of your wardrobe! Let’s start off by taking a peek into my closet…

Try using a spring rod across a closet space to keep dresses and jackets or tops hung and free of wrinkles. You can maximize the use of the space by putting drawers underneath to hold accessories or other clothing items.
Hanging

Use plastic drawers and bins to keep everything else organized- on the bottom we have shoes, then bags, and in the top drawer, socks and tights.

On the top shelf, you can see a few hat boxes for hats and a “laundry” basket. I like to keep that in the closet for days when I’m in a hurry getting ready, and don’t have time to put everything I take off in its proper place. It’s good to have a place to toss those items, so when you do have time, you can put them away, but they have a place to be in the meantime.

This little drawer unit is the perfect size for tops, sweaters, and bottoms. Drawers2

This one is great for small accessories, like jewelry, hair accessories, glasses, and belts.

That’s how I stay organized! For people like Xyra, who prefer to keep outfits together, I still suggest drawers and bins. Look for smaller sized drawers, so each one can hold a few complete outfits without getting too jumbled up. Try organizing them into categories such as seasons or occasions, so you will know where to find what you are looking for. If you really want to keep them organized, buy medium sized zip lock bags, and keep each outfit in its own bag. For those who do not have as much shelf space, look for large drawers, such as the one we have under our hanging rod, that can fit under a bed or other furniture, and pull out easily when it’s time to get dressed. All of these types of storage bins are available in many places such as Target, Walmart, and hardware stores. Now go forth and “set your closet free!”
