Questions for Clarisse: The Karaoke Dress

Question from K: I’m having the toughest time styling the dress from the AG Karaoke Outfit (1999-2003).  I think it has the potential to be sophisticated and whimsical- but I’m stumped.  Any ideas?

I’m sure quite a few of you have this dress in your stash, but for those of you who don’t, I hope these outfits will give you some ideas for other dresses you may have in your wardrobe! Unfortunately I don’t own the dress, so I used a virtual outfit creating website (Polyvore, which sadly no longer exists) to come up with some outfits. I used some doll sized pieces, and filled in the gaps with girl-sized basics that can easily be translated into things your doll may have in her wardrobe.

Fun and Flirty: First I wanted to try really allowing the dress to be the focus of the outfit. The pearls add a bit of sophistication and the hair-flower brings out the pink in the brocade while dressing up the look a bit. Paired with simple ivory tights and black flats, the dress is perfect for a party!

City Chic: The second look is a little more casual, perfect for a day out shopping! Isabelle’s Accessories pair nicely with the dress, giving it a more modern look. The scarf adds a little more flair to the outfit, and you can’t go wrong with the Pretty and Plaid Outfit boots!

Indie Girl: This look plays up the 90’s vibe with the long-sleeve under-layer and a slouchy hat. Keeping the accessories minimal and monochromatic make the look a little less girly, but still stylish. (Black boots are the AG Fashion Boots)

I hope this helps give you some ideas!
